Our suppliers are committed to re-forestation: For every tree harvested, three-and-a-half seedlings are planted – ensuring renewable resources for future generations.

At Northern Mat & Bridge we recognize that wood is the essence of our products and that is why it is our business to protect the forests.

It is almost impossible to put a value on the important economic, social and environmental roles that forests play in our biosphere. Forest land provides the clean air that we breathe and water we drink; they act as a carbon sinks and provide diversity to countless plant and animal species. In addition, they supply our country with an abundance of cultures, traditions, jobs and food sources.

In 2013, the 296.9 million hectares of Canadian forests accounted for 20% of the world’s fresh water, 566,500 jobs and $19.8 billion in GDP.

To ensure we are protecting these essential resources, we aim to purchase all of our products from third-party sustainable forest management certified supply chains. Currently, more than 90% of our lumber products used in the manufacturing of our mats are supplied by forestry companies that are members of the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC). The FSC is a non-profit organization that promotes responsible forestry practices by promoting environmental appropriateness, socially beneficial practices and economically viable solutions. Our suppliers are committed to re-forestation.
